## What this file is

A downloadable record of two owner passes on a monthly refund-reserve pack that claimed the reserve could stay flat. The first pass blessed the memo. The second opened the plan, the query, and the file, and found a missing marketplace exclusion. It is **not** a named-logo customer case, a vendor bake-off, or a Google Analytics / Stripe / IBM / Stanford / McKinsey experiment.

## Four-step method (reproducible)

1. Bind a monthly refund-reserve goal on a read-only orders source plus a cost extract and a one-page refund-rate note (marketplace excluded). Sanitize first.
2. Accept the first “reserve can stay flat” memo as the control. Score three checks: decision named, query opened, file opened.
3. Walk the same pack as objects: plan → query → intermediate table → file. Score the same three checks.
4. Keep both artifacts side by side. Stop if two of the three checks fail.

## Source and goal

| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Sources | One orders table plus a cost extract, about 825 refunded rows across two complete calendar months, plus a one-page refund-rate note |
| Standing goal | Can the refund reserve stay flat this month |
| Contrast | Bless the paragraph vs owner opened the files |

## Results

| Retrieval state | Decision named | Query opened | File opened |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bless the paragraph | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Owner opened the files | 1 | 1 | 1 |

Refunded rows on this run: 405 (earlier month) vs 420 (later month). The unlabeled memo said the reserve was “fine.” The owner pass named the collision: marketplace refunds had been pulled back into the rate by a missing exclusion. The owner rejected the first file and accepted the second.

Wall-clock for the successful owner pass: about 6 minutes (warehouse time excluded). The clock started when the operator opened the standing goal and ended when the plan, the query, and the file sat in one folder.
