## What this file is

A downloadable record of sending a weekly PDF from a reporting team while an analysis team kept a notebook, then opening the workspace pack that still held the memo, the SQL, and the same grain. It is **not** a named-logo customer case, a vendor bake-off, or an ISO / NIST / Stanford / McKinsey experiment.

## Four-step method (reproducible)

1. Bind a weekly finance-adjacent goal on a read-only source plus a one-page definition note locking “booked revenue,” “recognized revenue,” and “test account.” Sanitize first.
2. Request a Markdown memo, a PDF copy, two charts, and a CSV of SKUs that moved more than 8% versus plan.
3. Keep the reporting team’s weekly PDF and the analysis team’s notebook as the split pair. Score three checks: same grain, exclusion stated, SQL openable.
4. Open the workspace pack and score the same three checks. Keep first and second artifacts side by side.

## Source and goal

| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Sources | One invoice-adjacent fact table, about 12,800 order lines, plus a one-page definition note locking booked vs recognized revenue and “test account” |
| Standing goal | Weekly contribution versus plan, SKU grain, last complete week, test accounts excluded, memo plus SQL plus exceptions CSV |
| Contrast | Split PDF + notebook vs workspace pack |

## Results

| Retrieval state | Same grain | Exclusion stated | SQL openable |
|---|---|---|---|
| Split PDF + notebook | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Workspace pack | 1 | 1 | 1 |

Wall-clock for the successful pack: 11 minutes (warehouse time excluded). The clock started when the operator opened the standing goal and ended when the memo, the CSV, and the SQL sat in one folder.

The split PDF used booked revenue at invoice date and included test accounts. The notebook used recognized revenue at booking date and excluded test accounts. The top SKU changed rank across those two artifacts. The workspace pack’s memo, CSV, and SQL agreed.
