## What this file is

A downloadable record of a Friday contribution memo whose first screen named grain and file but omitted the test-account filter SQL applied, then a re-run that put the exclusion on the first screen. It is **not** a named-logo customer case, a vendor bake-off, or an OpenSearch / Prometheus / Stanford / McKinsey experiment.

## Four-step method (reproducible)

1. Bind a weekly contribution goal on a read-only finance-adjacent source plus a one-page definition note locking “contribution” and “test account.” Sanitize first.
2. Request a Markdown memo, two charts, and a CSV of SKUs over 8% versus plan. Score the first screen: names grain, names file, names filter.
3. Re-total the CSV against the prose. Record the miss when the filter is absent from the first screen.
4. Re-run with “put the exclusion in the first screen.” Score the same three checks.

## Source and goal

| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Sources | One weekly fact table, about 13,800 order lines, plus a one-page definition note locking “contribution” and “test account” |
| Standing goal | Weekly contribution memo: SKU grain, last complete week, test accounts excluded, exceptions CSV, call on pricing |
| Contrast | Sounds-ready first screen vs meeting-ready memo |

## Results

| Retrieval state | Names grain | Names file | Names filter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sounds-ready memo | 1 | 1 | 0 |
| Meeting-ready memo | 1 | 1 | 1 |

Wall-clock for the successful memo: 10 minutes (warehouse time excluded). The clock started when the operator opened the standing goal and ended when the first screen named grain, filter, and file together.
